Gastroenterology Dietitian Specialising in Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), the Low FODMAP Diet, Gluten Disorders     & Food Allergy/Intolerance

Marianne set up the first NHS primary care dietetic-led gastroenterology clinic in the UK in 2011 specialising in dietary treatment for adults with IBS and gastrointestinal allergy.  The clinic, and the pathway created to help IBS patients in Somerset, has won several awards and has been nationally recognised and was incorporated into the UK NICE Guidelines in June 2015 as a ‘Shared Learning Example’.  Marianne and her gastroenterologist colleague went on to win the prestigious ‘2016 NICE Shared Learning Award’ (National Institute for Health & Care Excellence) at the NICE conference in July 2016.

Audit figures for the clinic show that over 70% of patients improve with dietary intervention and the Somerset NHS dietetic clinic has been involved in national research with Kings College London.

Marianne specialises in IBS, the Low FODMAP Diet, food allergy, coeliac disease and gluten sensitivity. Those living in Somerset can either obtain an NHS referral via their GP to the NHS dietetic-led gastroenterology clinic, or alternatively Marianne runs a private practice clinic.  For those private patients living abroad or outside of Somerset she holds video Skype or Facetime consultations.

The IBS pathway in Somerset has be awarded:
